    Arminka Helic, Baroness Helic (Bosnian: Helić; born 20 April ),[1] is a British Conservative politician and life peer from Bosnia and Herzegovina who served as a special adviser to Foreign Secretary William Hague.[2][3]

    Helic was nominated to the House of Lords by David Cameron and was created a life peer on 18 September as Baroness Helic, of Millbank in the City of Westminster.[4] She was introduced to the House of Lords on 24 November [5]

      Baroness Arminka Helić is credited with persuading William Hague, the former foreign secretary, and the actor and director Angelina Jolie to launch the Preventing Sexual Violence in Conflict Initiative (PSVI) to campaign against rape as a weapon of war.

      Born in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Arminka fled her home country as violence escalated in the former Yugoslavia and her family appeared on a Serbian death list.
